Maureen Okam Achebe (MD, MPH) completed her training in hematology and medical oncology at Yale New-Haven Hospital and practices hematology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). Maureen is the Clinical Director of Hematology at DFCI and the Director of the Comprehensive SCD Center at BWH. She has a master’s degree in public health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her interests include advancing the care of people with hematology diseases and delivery of equitable care, at a population level. Some of her current work focuses on the impact of Duffy null status on pharmaco-equity. She also works on investigating new therapies for sickle cell disease and management of iron deficiency anemia in individuals at highest risk in pregnancy. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
