Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Jose-Javier (JJ) Martinez joined the NYSDOH AIDS Institute in 2019 and currently serves as the Associate Director of the Office of LGBTQ Services. For over 8 years, he has been working in the fields of HIV prevention and surveillance, LGBTQ health, program development, and contract management. He holds a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and a master’s degree in public health education from the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Puerto Rico.
