This study examines the relationship between alcohol and drug (AOD) sex risk perceptions and HIV status awareness, focusing on gender differences among college students. The findings reveal that while higher AOD sex risk perceptions increase the likelihood of knowing one’s HIV status for men, this effect is reversed for women, where greater perceived risk correlates with lower odds of HIV status awareness. These results highlight the need for targeted educational interventions to address misconceptions and encourage HIV testing across genders.
