Ashley Smith started working at the AIDS Institute as a contract manager for the People Aging with HIV (PAWH) Pilot in October 2022. She has previously worked in a clinical setting on the Retention and Adherence Program and served on the NYS HIV Advisory Board and the Capital Region Ending the Epidemic Committee. Across three decades of work in a variety of professional settings, she has focused on social justice advocacy in areas that address the social determinants of health. Ashley holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with a concentration in Women's Studies from Williams College and a Master of Divinity from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School and has participated in coursework in Constitutional, Legislative, Administrative, and Civil Rights law at Albany Law School. Diagnosed as a person living with HIV in 1991, Ashley brings both a personal and professional passion to her work with people aging with HIV and the systems and supports that serve this population.
