John Wikiera is a 32-year Long Term Survivor of HIV and a New York State Certified Peer Worker who has volunteered and worked in the HIV community in various capacities just shy of his 32-year diagnosis. Currently, Mr. Wikiera is the Co-Chair for the AIDS Institute’s Consumer Advisory Committee within the Office of Quality Initiatives, and a Peer Coach for the Aging with HIV SPNS project. Mr. Wikiera serves as the Chair of the NY Statewide Peer Network, an education, networking, and virtual support group that meets weekly to address social isolation, advocacy and advance quality improvement initiatives through peer mentoring and sharing lived experience. As a recognized educator, mentor, and facilitator providing leadership across New York State, and on a national level as well, Mr. Wikiera has always been a strong advocate for people with HIV being included in the decisions that affect our quality of care.
